This thank you note is for the group members that I had for two of the projects in this class. I could not have been more fortunate to have had the groupmates that I did. They were all hard working, punctual when they needed to be, and prompt with the completion of their portions of the work. So, Aiden, Abbi, and Sophia, this thank you note is for you guys!
The first partnered assignment, called teaching a skill, was the least stressed I have ever been about a presentation in my schooling. Due to the fact that what Aiden and I were talking about was not that challenging, the presentation was easy. But, this does not account for any extra nerves that exist while thinking about the presentation. Even in that sense, I had no nervous energy. That speech went super well, obviously, and I felt comfortable up there with Aiden throughout the practice runs and final delivery.
The final speech, really a video project, went smoothly as well. Every single one of our practice rounds and even the final were done effectively. I won’t say more about this final because the things I have already said represent our work well enough.
All in all, a huge thank you to my partners this semester! You guys exceeded my expectations with your efforts and final work!
Originally I couldn’t decide who I wanted to thank, based on personal interactions and class involvement, however recognition needs to be given where it’s deserved, even if there’s a lot of it to go around.
First, I would like to thank the partners I had in speech two and speech four. I have a lot of strong opinions, which sometimes makes me too controlling in group work. Khloe was very open to my suggestions and tolerated my somewhat crazy ideas. She kept me in check and picked up some of the slack like taking pictures around campus and picking up snacks for our props. Kaitlyn took the class by storm, presenting our idea and the dry-dry run when I couldn’t be there. Without her, I wouldn’t have been able to complete speech four in time and I wouldn’t have gotten feedback from the class prior to our final. Khloe and Kaitlyn, thank you for your hard work and tolerating me.
Second, I would like to thank Keigan. For the entirety of the semester he always came to class with a positive attitude, added comedy with his lighthearted personality, and I felt truly initiated a sense of community amongst the class. He almost always had feedback on everyone’s speech, which was either highly complementary or constructive in a positive way. Keigan, I applaud your kindness and optimistic attitude.
Lastly, I would like to thank Aiden. I never got an opportunity to personally work with her, but I looked forward to hearing each of her speeches. I admire her speech delivery, especially her diction and articulation based on the type of speech and intention of each point made within a speech. She also had nothing but positive and constructive comments for the speeches of others. Aiden, thank you for facilitating the inclusivity and solidifying the community of the class.
That being said, presenting a speech, especially one like the third can be incredibly personal, emotional, and somewhat vulnerable. I saw growth and improvement from everyone in the class throughout the semester. I believe the community we created with one another allowed us to get out of our comfort zone and thrive with progression. Congratulations to all and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!!
It might seem kind of lame but I would like to thank all of you. I signed up for this class to become a more confident public speaker and be more comfortable in front of a crowd, and I can say that I have improved significantly in my goal thanks to the help of my classmates and professor Jesse.
I am definitely not the only one who can pat themselves on the back though, although some of you might now believe it yourselves, I can see improvement in the overall air of confidence that you all give off; and I think that is just really great. I would like to thank all of my classmates for being supportive of me and of yourselves, it takes a lot to get up and speak in front of a whole class and I’m glad that we all can do that in solace as the semester comes to a close.
I would also like to thank my fellow lobsterwomen Maddie and guest star Kasey as well, who have been very supportive of me. Thank you.
This is a thank you note to the people I have worked with on two of the speeches in this class. I would say it worked out that I had the partners I did because of the things we had in common that made our speeches come together. In each project we worked together to plan, prepare, and present a great speech for the class. I enjoyed working with both Sophia and Hannah. So, this is a thank you note to you guys!
The second speech we did in this class was called teaching a skill, and I got partnered with Sophia. I had a lot of fun doing this speech especially since we both loved field hockey. It was easy to work together to come up with ideas since we have both played field hockey. Overall, that speech went super well because of our teamwork and confidence.
The last and most recent speech we did was a video project. Hannah and I had a few bumps at the beginning but pushed through and delivered a great speech. Our shared military experience definitely helped us with getting over these bumps in the road. I really enjoyed working with Hannah and getting to talk more about the military.
Although this is a big thank you to Sophia and Hannah, I also want to thank everyone in this class. In the beginning, I didn’t know how to feel about taking a public speaking class, but I actually enjoyed it. The community we created throughout the semester helped me build my confidence when speaking in front of groups and made this a really fun class. I feel that everyone can agree with me when I say we have all shown that we can be great public speakers.
To start I would like to thank professor Miller. For all his wisdom that he has taught us of how to create a well worded speech and tips on presenting. I would then like to thank my first group project partner, Hannah. She was a wonderful partner, easy to to talk too like talking to a friend. She had amazing input to make our speech great. I would like to thank my third speech partners Mackie and Taylor. Mackie and I have met before hand so it was great to talk again. Even with her hectic schedule she still had time for us to create an amazing episode of the Medicine Cabinet. She is great with technology and just a good person to talk to. Taylor was an amazing partner. She was also great to talk to. She was very helpful with the project by picking music, getting materials, and being on top of the speech. I would also like to thank Kegan for keeping everyone on their toes and Aiden with her energetic personality, and overall everyone in the class. For showing up and being each others hype men/women for every speech.
I would like to dedicate my thank you note to all the people I had the pleasure of working with this semester and just simply the entirety of the class.
Initially, I would like to thank my speech two partner Kasey O. If I am being honest, I was so nervous about getting paired up randomly. I am an outgoing person, but the prompt of teaching a skill with another person made me uneasy because how could two strangers share something in common. This was further from the truth. I am so thankful that this speech happened because Kasey was such a blessing to work with. We immediately connected and had great flow when talking about our mutual shared skill. She was so positive and had the best personality! I am happy to call her one of my friends now 🙂
Next, I would like to extend my gratitude towards my fellow shmeigan news hosts Sydney and Keigan. I could not have asked for a better pairing for a final project. Syd, thank you for consistently being so kind and charismatic. Every class you always participated and offered helpful feedback to not only myself but to everyone in the class. Keigan, thank you for making me laugh all the time. You were so easy to work with and always added helpful ideas when collaborating.
My final thank you goes to everyone in the class! Thank you all for having the strength to be vulnerable and share personal things throughout the semester. It is a hard thing to do, and everyone should be beyond proud of themselves!
Goodluck to the seniors in the class on your new journeys after graduation!
As the semester comes to a close, thank you’s have been on my mind for quite some time. Starting off with my group partners for all projects.
Mackie: You and I were paired up for speech 2, and if you couldn’t tell I walked into that assignment still a nervous freshman. You made me feel like it wasn’t a big deal to get up and give speeches. We had a shared passion for time management, and it made it easy to create our project. In a class where I felt like nervous little scared freshman, you made me excited to come to class and work on our project.
Keigan: About half way through the semester you sat next to Mia and I, ever since then you, Mia and I were bound to have a project together. You would always walk into class and ask us how we were, and always radiated positivity when responding to others speeches. You managed to put a smile of everyones face at one point or another. During this past project you brought energy to the group, you encouraged us to try again if we messed up in filming, and you even managed to say hi to us outside of class.
Mia: Going into this class I knew Mia was going to be there. Mia and I have been friends since the beginning of freshman year. Going into a class where I didn’t know people, she made it easier to take on the challenge of having this public speaking class. She sat next to me the entire semester and we both cheered for each other after every speech. During our final project Mia and I worked very close together since our major is the same. I look forward to having more classes with you in the future.
Now I’d like to thank the rest of the class:
Thank you for allowing not only myself but others be vulnerable throughout the semester. I feel is our class created this safe little community where we could share what we wanted and didn’t have to worry about what people thought and if they were judging us. Thank you for making this class more enjoyable by creating this community.
I would like to thank Bobby, Lizzy, and Colby for being amazing speech partners. Colby and I worked together for Speech 2 and it was super nice to work with someone that had a vision for the final project and how we would get there. Being able to bounce off of him during our different deliveries made it a little less high stakes, and really made me feel at ease. I am not the most excited about group projects, as I often get stuck doing most of the work, but Colby took his fair share of work and we both created a pretty solid speech. To Lizzy, thank you for deciding to sit next to me on that first day of class. Over the semester we have developed what I consider a pretty sweet friendship, and it’s nice to have someone else in social work to talk to. She also carried her part for Speech 4 and it made it super easy for us to all work together on the final product. Bobby also was a super partner to have for Speech 4 and it was nice to learn little things about him. I learned that we both want to go into pediatric healthcare, and if he ever decides to work at Dartmouth Hitchcock in the future, I think we would be a pretty good team. I also appreciate his sense of humor and making me laugh every class. And finally, not to get too sappy, thank you to everyone in the class for creating a welcoming community and for sharing parts of your lives with me. All of you are wonderful people and I will not forget the community we have created. I also appreciated it when you guys laughed at my jokes. 🙂
There are many people I can think of to thank for making this class enjoyable, but I especially want to thank Mackie and Khloe. Starting with Mackie, thank you for being one of my partners for the fourth speech and making the experience better. Being able to talk to you more personally showed me who you were as a person outside of class and your personality really shined through. You were on-top of things, caring, kind, and welcoming. I wish you the absolute best in med school and everything you do in life. Khloe, you kind of intimidated me at first glance since you always seemed so composed and professional. But maybe that was just because of the scrubs. Your composure during speeches really helped me with my own nerves and easing myself, so thank you. Being my other partner for speech 4 and having one-on-one time with you, I saw a side of you that was in fact not intimidating but instead sweet, caring, and funny. I enjoyed all of our conversations and will be sad to not see you next year.
Lastly, I want to thank the class as a whole. Being my first public speaking class and experience I was apprehensive and nervous coming into it but the energy every day in the room allowed me to feel more comfortable with you all and for that I appreciate all of you.
Everyone in this class deserve a huge thank you, not only for listening and providing feedback to my own speeches, but also for getting up and doing their own dry runs and final speeches successfully throughout the entire semester. Everyone in this class has a unique way of presenting and my confidence grew just watching other people grow too.
I also want to thank my group project members; Abbi, Colby, and Kaitlyn. All three of you were incredibly easy to work with and I am proud of the projects we completed.
For Kaitlyn, I want to give a special thanks to. When we were partnered up for speech 2, I was still very nervous about speaking to the class and talking to my peers. However, you were very open and optimistic which helped me become a lot more comfortable speaking in front of everyone else. Thank you Kaitlyn for getting me to break out of my shell!
I would like to thank everyone in this class! From the feedback and contributions you have all made, this class has been a success. It takes a group effort to make this class run efficiently, so I would like to thank everyone for their feedback and their hard work. Everyone’s participation really contributed to a tight knit community where everyone could felt included and comfortable. Our class has such a positive energy as well. This was something for me to look forward to when coming to class. I can confidently say that this is the most comfortable I have felt in a classroom before, so thank you for that! Seeing everyone grow and improve as a public speaker left an impact on me and I am very proud of you all.
Specifically, I would like to give a thank you to the people I got to work with in groups. So, thank you Neil, Patrick and Rachael. To Rachael, thank you for putting in your hard work on speech 2. We took a slightly different approach to this speech, and made slime. Even though it was messy, this project was so much fun, so thank you for having an open mind, and for getting your hands sticky. To Neil and Patrick, thank you for being great partners in speech 4. We worked very well together, and I am proud of the contributions both of you made and the ideas we came up with.
There is a lot of you in this class that I wanna say thank you to. This whole class made it fun and comfortable to be able to present in this class in front of all of you guys. Thank you to Professor Miller for making both Communication and public speaking class a safe and fun environment. But the two people I wanna thank are my partners Bobby and Aiden.
Bobby- was my first partner in this class and I’m glad it was you and not someone random. I already knew Bobby before this class and we barely talked but after this class, I can say we have talked way more now and have made a good connection between each other. It was super fun to work with you because you are just super funny and fun to just hang out with in general.
Aiden- was the first person I ever talked to in the class. Sat next to her in class and I do not regret doing that. From day one we clicked and I’m glad I found someone who is in the same major. As this class went by I have noticed why I like sitting next to Aiden and why we click so well is that she reminds me of my 6 year best friend back at home.
Working with Aiden and Bobby in this class made it super fun and enjoyable to do speeches. I just wanna say thank you for making me actually wanna come to class. And having new connections with you guys.
As the semester winded down I realized that public speaking was not what it really seemed, it was more of a definition in my head of speaking words in front of a class. It was a step toward your career. to find relationships and build a community in class and to come together and know everyone’s going through the same emotions and is scared to mess up, but its okay.
Firstly I would like to thank the class for being such a light hearted, warm comfort zone place and as I wouldn’t have pictured me being so comfortable in a class filled with people I didn’t know I felt welcomed.
Then, I would like to thank my speech 2 partner Mia. In a small world Mia and I instantly clicked and realized we don’t live far from each other and share common interests . Whether it was during our speech, seeing her around campus or even becoming closer as friends now in the athletic training room while I was getting treated, her energy was contagious and I’ll never take for granted how nice and kind Mia was.
Lastly, I would like to thank my teammate, co host and friend Rachael. Going into the year having an uppercase teammate was scary enough, and now being partners and hanging out with Rachael over the class time I am more than appreciative of her. She’s helped me step out of my shell on and off the court and we truly match personalities. Being the dynamic duo in the back of the class last row, hanging out outside the classroom and getting to meet someone so confident in her speaking, is what I will continue to take from her.
I would like to thank Pressor Jessie Miller for helping making this class interesting and fun. With a few of my classes this year they have been pretty boring, however in this class we are mostly always doing something or having a task to complete which can make the class engaging, unlike some of my other classes. The most recent project you assigned was probably my favorite because I have never really done anything with videos or podcasts before, but this sparked my interest in them. I hope in my next classes I will have a chance to do this again because even though it was fun and engaging, I also learned a lot about other people’s majors as well which I found very interesting. Also thank you for helping me become a better public speaker, with my first speech, it had lots of “umms” and awkward pauses, however, I still am not perfect but I definitely am better than I was when I started this course.
As this class comes to an end, I would like to thank the group members that I had for all my projects throughout the semester. Everyone that I worked with was a pleasure to meet/get to know and I was content to work through the assignments we were given with them. I’d also like to thank the class as a whole for all the positive feedback given throughout the year. This doesn’t even just apply to speeches I was a part of, anytime post speech when commentary was required it was very sweet to listen to all the nice things people had to say, and it was nice to hear classmates supporting others. More specifically I’d like to give three shoutouts, Andrew for transforming me into old McDonald, Kasey for staying positive and bright and lastly Taylor for sitting next to me and always trading a piece of paper to write on for a piece of gum.
This class was really open and such a great environment to walk into every week. There are definitely a few people I want to thank overall from this class. The first person being Becca. Working together on speech 2 was so much fun, and messy at times. I appreciate all of the hard work that you put into it and also being a great person to work with. The second person I want to thank is Kasey O. Over the course of this semester we have definitely grown more as friends rather than teammates. I appreciate you always coming to class with a good attitude, having confidence, and being hardworking. The last trio that I want to recognize is Mia, Sydney and Keigan. I appreciate you three for always being so kind to everyone and always bringing positive energy to the classroom.
This has been a crazy and such a good bonding semester. We all started off as strangers and now it feels like we can all leave as friends. I want to thank everyone for listening and providing feedback on all of my speeches and being such good people to bounce ideas off of. But there are a few people I want to thank specifically.
Sydney- You were my first speech partner and it was quite a nerve wracking experience. We didn’t know each other when we started and it was a weird project to figure something out about us that was in common. But once we did that it was smooth sailing from there. You were so amazing in creating the speech and being such a good speaker. It was so easy to work with you on the speech and made it just a better experience for me to get up there and be confident. You confidence radiated off you while we were up there and it was so much easier to keep up that constant energy around you. Thank you for being a great first partner, a friend outside of class and contributing member of the classroom.
Khloe- As a friend from before the semester started it was so easy to sit down next to you at the beginning of the semester. And picking you as one of my group mates for the fourth speech just made sense. You are always on it and ready to go, keeping me on it with my crazy schedule but also making the creation of this project so much fun. We were able find something in common and be able to create a really good speech about it. I am grateful that we got to finally share a class together and I wish you well on all of your journeys in life.
Taylor- We became friends during the class just talking and making faces across the classroom at each other. And when we heard about the final speech it just made sense to work together. Since then it has been so fun to see you on campus and at events. Being able to help guide you through the housing decisions and preparing for the future has been so bonding. When it comes to the speech you were a big part of creating the questions and the relationship between our two majors. I hope that everything in your future pharmacy endeavors works out, and maybe one day I’ll write a prescription for you to fill out.
Jesse- I know you may not be a student in this class but I think a special thank you is in order. You have been a contributing member of my academic career for the past two years. As my advisor it has been a pleasure being able to work with you and create a relationship that has impacted me in many aspects of my life. I also want to thank you for being such a happy face and kind words when it came to the speeches, and made me feel much better when I was up there in front of the room. I thank you for everything you have done for me thus far and I look forward to the next two semesters filled with classes with you.
As for the rest of the class, thank you again for being such a helpful part of creating and presenting my speeches. We have created such a safe space that cannot be replicated. Once again, I thank you all.
Thank yous. Those are always tough. Especially when given the opportunity to talk about a few members of the class. It would take a long time to talk about everyone, but I really wish I could since we had a great inclusive class this year. I heard some amazing speeches and met some really cool people during this class, and was super happy with how the semester turned out.
First off, I’d like to thank Andrew.
Andrew: He is effortlessly funny, I enjoyed getting to know him and connecting over how he went to Cape Elizabeth High School. We started getting close until he canceled a ski trip we had planned. But I guess I’ll forget about that part. For real though, really enjoyed having Andrew in this class, couldn’t help but smile even when he’s not even trying to be funny. S
The next person I want to thank is my Shmeigan Cast.
Mia and Sydney: You guys made this project super fun. Although finding time to meet was never easy with our busy schedules, we made it work, and I never dreaded meeting outside of class. Mia, you have such a positive attitude and always seem to be smiling, and were super friendly which made you easy to work with. Sydney, you welcomed me to sit next to you, and even though many times I wanted to move spots, you would never let me. I’m just kidding, but thanks for becoming a friend and also being very friendly and talkative, I appreciate that about you!
I also want to thank Bobby.
Although I had very few conversations with Bobby, he was someone who I just admire how he goes about things and how he holds himself. He has this sense of confidence and humor that makes it great to be in the same class as someone like Bobby.
I also need to shout out Aiden and Lizzy for there energy they brought to the class, and Aiden’s engagement in everyone’s speeches was super special and didn’t go unnoticed. You both added great points and were super enjoyable to be in a class with.
I lastly want to thank Lilith. Lilith was quiet, but the presence was felt, she always thought she couldn’t speak well publicly, but failed to prove that statement wrong every time she gave a speech. She killed it every time and I always found myself super engaged when she was giving her speeches.
Shoutout to the rest of the class!
Thanks for a great semester!
I did not know who to thank at first but the people I want to thank are all my partners I worked with this semester. I have made new and amazing connections and friendships in this class and I am very happy to be apart of this amazing class.
Keigan, I want to thank you for working around my concussion during our partner speech. I still feel bad about the whole mess but I am glad we worked around it. You made the speech easier by your fun and easy going energy. Thank you for working through our boring ideas and help turn it into something fun.
Andrew, we were already friends coming in, but we’ve become closer throughout the semester. Our banter over the semester while sitting next to each other and working with each other in the last project has brought us closer. You’re a super nice and amazing guy, thank you for making the class fun.
Maddie, Old McDonald, like Andrew we were already good friends coming into the class. This class definitely made us become closer and the last project with us working together I had a lot of fun. Thank you for the also many laughs and sarcasm.
To the class in general, even though I did not work with everyone, watching and listening to everyone’s speeches I had a great time. Everyone contributed to the class making it a lot more fun. It seemed like a long semester but this class made it a bit more fun. I have made a lot of new friends in this class and I am very glad. If you see me around say hi, I love talking to everyone!
First, I would like to thank the entire class. I think that we were able to create a real sense of community in this class. Everyone was so supportive and kind. In our busy world, it can be so difficult to sit in classes and actually listen to what people have to say, but I think collectively we were all able to do that. I was able to learn so much from everyone in this class and that so valuable.
Next, I would like to thank my partners for the final project. Colby and Sophia were great classmates and I’m glad that we came together for the project. I learned so much from them and so much about them while building the script for our project. They were very supportive and easy to work with. They are both great people and I’m glad I had the opportunity to get to know them!
Lastly, I would like to thank Professor Miller. Most of my classes do not have standards like yours. I truly think the no phones and no laptop “rule” is what makes this class so rewarding. I never once was trying to look at the clock or trying to count down the minutes until class was over. I learned a lot about myself and other people in this class and I think that this class is a great opportunity to grow as a person.
In our public speaking class I’ve made friends that I never would have while I was here at UNE. From teammates I’ve known already to people I’ve just met I could give out many many thank you’s. I am extremely thank full for the feed back from the class with my struggles and the things I’m good at. The environment that the class gave off to me was extremely welcoming and opening. Id like to thank Becca Patrick Aiden and Bobby Colby for always giving back feedback. The teacher and the body of the class always made things easy while working on hard speeches while we were maybe feeling down about what we were talking about. Becca were good friends before class but I got to learn more about you from youre speeches. Bobby youre my guy but seeing you in a class setting made me realize more about you while knowing you from football. Patrick I think youre hilarious and a smart kid and know what you want. Aiden youre constantly positive and you do a great job making me and the class feel good about ourselves while we were speaking with positive and helpful feed back I greatly enjoyed going to class with you. Colby and I have had a lot of classes together while and never really talked but this class made us grow closer and learn a lot more about each other. Jesse, while at first this class frustrated me with my struggles with speaking, I greatly appreciate you forcing us to be able push our limit. I appreciate the whole class for making me feel completely comfortable while working trough my ever growing process of public speaking.
