  1. After watching our dry run, and thinking back to the dry dry run, I am really happy about where we are going into preparation and filming of the final speech. The feedback that we received in class today, after our dry run, was really informative. Everyone was on the same page saying that we were very conversationalist and had an easy connection with one another, and I think that is our strength. We created a script where we made it easy for us to work together, bounce off each other and to create more of a conversation. Jesse brought up adding more about what “The Medicine Cabinet” is itself and I think adding that will be really important. Moving on toward the final presentation and filming, I think if we just clean things up and finalize the last details about our game segment, we will be able to fit everything into the allotted time. Overall I am really happy with how we have progressed thus far and how we have created a speech that fits in all of our majors and feels more like a conversation.

  2. After watching our dry run and comparing it to our dry-dry run I was definitely pleased with the outcome. Especially since I was alone for the dry-dry run and me and Rachael didn’t get to have another practice run with me. I was nervous that it would sound not natural and choppy. That wasn’t the case. I think our personalities click well and we are already friends and teammates so it’s just like having a conversation with my friend when we are giving that talk show vibe.We wanted to give off more of a humorous side to it and not be so serious. Comparing ours to a lot of other groups I feel like we succeeded even though there are only 2 of us. We bounce well off each other and kind of just went with it adding what we do best which is just be ourselves. We were a little over 7 minutes long, which is right where we want to be but also have to factor in that we still need to add our commercial break , but I’m not worried about that part as I know we will just shorten up certain things and make it under a minute. Overall I loved hearing feedback from the class and am excited to film the actual piece.

  3. Our dry run was good. It was very similar to our dry dry run but a little more natural like talking to friends. That was a big comment, how natural our talk show was. We met prior to the dry run in class to create a more detailed script and talk about our secret segment. I think it went well, I didn’t feel anxious or nervous. I felt that our questions were great topic for each of our majors and allowed me to talk about my major even the specific questions to Taylor and Mackie still allowed me talk about me. Our answers were normal and informal. We did not write down what we were going to talk about to help keep it natural so we didn’t sound like we were reading from a script. We were just over 6 mins which allows enough time for our segment. All we need to do now is get together, record, and then Mackie is in charge of cutting and splicing the video together. Overall between our group and individual preparation, and multiple positive comments in class I think that we are going to make a great episode of The Medicine Cabinet.

  4. The second practice round of our presentation went very well, at least in my mind. From our previous practice presentation, we added, subtracted, and polished our lines as close to perfection as we thought possible at the time. Ultimately, we did a great job elevating our speech from the first round to the second round.

With regards to things that were still moving, or not working as well as they could be, I immediately think of my theatrics in both practice rounds. I wanted the practice to be as close to the final as possible, so I ended up including my movements for the final video in our practice runs. This will look a lot better once the final product comes out. My partners have done a fantastic job throughout this project, and I am confident that their work will continue to be great as we finish up today and tomorrow.

I am excited to get this project recorded so that we can go into the editing portion. I’ll be able to tidy up the spots that need it and push all the way through to the end.

  5. After watching our dry-run speech, I think my group mates and I did a great job. I felt like we were comfortable presenting which may have been because of the smaller class size, or just because we are getting more comfortable in our public speaking abilities. Going into the dry run, we had revised our script a bit since the dry-dry run, and I researched more information about my major and what my career looks like since we are presenting as ourselves in the future. Personally, I was a bit tired and felt like another dry run was not entirely necessary so I did not put as much effort in as I could, but re-watching the video I think that just made it seem like a more relaxed interview, so I am still satisfied with my preformance. I think my group members also did a great job and were funny to watch, I think the final video will turn out well. Going forward in this process, I will continue to go over my “lines” and get more comfortable with the information that I will be speaking about. We have some other things lined up for the final video which we haven’t showed during our dry runs, so I am excited to incorporate some new stuff for the final.

  6. After watching our dry run video, I thought we did a great job. Although it felt very similar to our dry dry run, I thought we improved. Being able to practice it again was helpful to make it more natural. I thought I did a better job at not reading my script. I tried to make it flow better by looking up and making it feel more like a conversation. I felt confident up there, and I thought my group did a great job overall. Some comments we got were to look at each other rather than the audience when speaking. I think we will definitely try to do this for our video to make it seem more like a talk show. It just feels a little different doing it in front on a class because we were not completely sure on where to direct our eyes. Along with this, I think we should add some more sections where Neil can speak about his major. This will wrap it all together and prepare us for the final draft.

  7. After reviewing both of the dry-runs, Kasey and I definitely had some things to touch up on and be secure before we made our final speech video. We had a lot of really good things happening such as good content, humor, and working in relevant issues that are happening in our major/world right now. There was really not much to fix and revise besides just making sure it is all flowing well and talking about everything we wanted to talk about and share. I think that we are really prepared for our final speech and when we do record it, it’ll go really well. I think that since we did have good discussion and topics that adding humor is going to be really beneficial for us since it makes it a better talk show type of speech instead of just seriousness. I also think that our commercial fits really well and it is really relevant to our major and world discussion. Overall we seem to be really on top of it and know what we are going to do and how to deliver that for our final video.

  8. Our dry run was the first time my partner and I were able to present together. It did end up being nine minutes over the maximum time limit. Based on the audience’s comments, our chemistry made the speech flow well with our comments towards each other. We originally had around eight to ten questions, which contributed to the length of our speech. Since our dry run, we combined and got rid of a few questions and condensed the speech into an introduction, four main questions, and a conclusion. In addition to reducing the number of questions, we also cut out some of the “fluff” and only left the meat and potatoes. We wanted to continue on our path of military experience and personal circumstances, but reduced the amount of recruiting. Because our time was such a large factor, we continued to rehearse the speech and took out supporting points as we timed ourselves during each run. After recording our final video, we realized we should’ve rehearsed more without our outlines, as we ran into the same issue of timing. We found that it was easier to record one question, pause, then record the next question. This allowed us to regroup after each question and resulted in smoother transitions.

  9. After watching our dry run and dry dry run I have noticed that we are really coming along nicely. We have definitely worked on not looking at our scripts as much and have developed a solid talk show segment. We recorded our final project today and it definitely is at a great spot because of how much room we had to grow in with our dry and dry dry runs. We have also added some humor into our final project as it has a nice base of the outline. I am super excited to get the final product done and watch everyone else’s in class!

  10. My groups dry run was fairly similar to our dry-dry run; I even felt as though my energy was a dampened in the dry run compared to the dry-dry run but that may have been due to the rain that day. However, both run throughs have felt very natural and the flow feels appropriate for the time limit. I am proud of my team, we chose a proper format for the speech by doing the panel option, we have all been able to equally express ourselves through this speech. I am still guilty of using filler words such as “um” but I almost feel as though this adds to the relaxed and natural air of the speech. The one thing that I could really feel a bit more comfortable with is using my body language appropriately while my partners are speaking since I do not want to look unfocused but I also do not want my attention to their parts to look forced. I feel as though I was aware of my body language when it comes to my own speaking but I did not even consider how my body language can affect my partner’s speeches as well. Overall, I think the group speech is leading us towards a strong final project.

  11. This dry run was the first time my partner and I were able to present together. It ended up going over the maximum time limit by 9 minutes. After watching the dry run, I have noticed a couple things that will work well and things that need improvements. The things the seem to work are the questions we will ask each other, keeping our talk show path with humor while adding an informational section. The audience found the informational section of the dry run to be a great way to educate others. After doing the dry run we both decided that we needed to cut/condense our questions so that we can stay within the time required. We originally had around ten questions that we asked each other in our dry run, but have cut it down to an introduction, 4 main questions, and a conclusion. Since our dry run, we reordered the questions to help us flow from one question to another a little better. Because we went overtime for our dry run, we decided to time ourselves each time we practiced our new outline to see where we were at with time. Once we had a good time, we recorded our final video and did the editing needed to make it complete.

  12. Our dry run was good and improved from our dry dry run. We did not have a “script”, so our conversations were on the spot and natural which was important to us because we felt that way the best way to get it to feel like a talk show. We received great feedback that will allow us to bring the final speech together really nicely. We ended around 6 minutes which is the perfect amount of time for us to add in our mini game segment. Once we are done filming, Mackie will be the one editing the video as she is the best at that. I am excited to film and advance our speech and to see the final product.

  13. After doing the dry run in class and then watching it back, I think our speech is getting stronger. Keigan, Syd, and I worked more on the structure of the speech which made the flow a lot better. The dry run was live in class, so we were not able to show the interviews we conducted. When the final day comes, I believe that the vision of our speech will come to life! The feedback we received from our classmates was also really positive again! I cannot wait to show the final video to the class.

  14. After watching back our dry run video I thought we did great. We know where and what we are doing really well on and we know where and what we need to do better and improve on. I know I want to find a way to give my ideas and my part of the speech along with being the host and starting the conversation. I also know we need to find a way to have a wrap up and a conclusion. Wether it be a short message, a commercial break or a short game like other groups are doing. Im confident in my groups ability to fix our issues and make our video a lot stronger. Overall I think were doing great.

  15. After watching my dry run and letting myself digest it, I feel as if Keigan, Mia, and myself are in a good spot. We have to film our final but right now we have a pretty good script. We realized we should cut down some of our talking points to make more room for the videos that we pre-recorded. After filming and editing our final project is a lot better then our drafts! I think everyone will enjoy the show!

  16. After watching our dry run, I noticed my group have some small details to work on and which questions we wanted to focus on. Overall I think our personalities worked well and our humor was very good in this run. It changes every time but it works every time.

  17. After watching our dry run, I feel like we are in a good spot. I think we’ve made good progress already, and I feel like we’re in a good spot moving forward. We need to make slight adjustments like incorporating our interviews, as well as, how we’re going to do that. We need to make sure that the speech flows well too, and we need to bounce off each other and know exactly what each other is saying, and try to make it as much of a conversation as best as possible, making it super easy and interesting to listen to.
