After viewing our speech in class, I am pleased with the outcome of this speech. Our topics flowed nicely and the chemistry between all of us was noticeable and made the “talk show” seem very natural. The addition of our mini game show segment kept the audience engaged, so we were told, which was good to hear since we didn’t know how it would turn out. Our major goal was to keep it fun and light-hearted while still meeting the requirements and having it be educational. I think my Mackie, Khloe, and I worked well together, and it was a good balance of everyone coming up with ideas and contributing. Our video came out small when projected and it was a tiny bit blurry but other than that I felt the rest of it was solid and it was a good last speech.
Overall, I was more proud of and enjoyed my other speeches, in comparison to speech four. As I have differing opinions on school and will be taking on a unique career path as opposed to my peers, I found it difficult to get involved in this speech without being brutally honest or rude. Having Kaitlyn as my partner made the project more enjoyable and we were able to relate with each other, due to our military experience. I considered taking the prompt for exactly what it was, but being a senior I want other/younger students to see that you don’t always need to be fully involved in school in order to reach your goals, especially when they aren’t directly linked together. Kaitlyn and I encountered the issue of having too much content, which we realized after our dry run. Our ability to communicate and solve the problems we faced, allowed us to easily come to terms and restructure the content in order to reach the intended purpose. We wanted to include humor, especially to make light of our complicated situations and my moderate hatred for school; I felt that some of the comedy landed with the audience and other pieces didn’t. I’m not entirely sure how we could’ve reworked that to land better. Lastly, the videography and editing could have elevated our final video. We worked with what we had, which was a cell phone and a free editing program, but I think a real camera, microphones, and a more professional editing software would’ve limited artifact and increased the quality of the final product. I’m content with my delivery, while being honest about my situation, yet meeting the requirements of what was expected when speaking about your major and future.
Looking back on speech 4, I am very happy with the result. The whole process was relatively easy for me and I enjoyed the project. I thought that my group worked very well together, and we were able to brainstorm and come up with a lot of different ideas and approaches to the project. Since we all have different majors, we had a lot of content to cover. I thought that we covered it very efficiently and got our points across. At first, we were a little worried about the digital aspect of the project because none of us were great with technology. After filming though, I surprised myself. We were able to figure out the editing, and I made some great contributions on that part. From looking at our dry runs, I can see an evolution in our speech that really elevated our final product. By having Neil more involved in the questions, it made the conversation flow better and felt more natural. The audience agreed with this as well. They thought that there was a perfect balance between speaking about information and speaking like a conversation. Overall, I felt that we did a great job on speech 4 and I am very happy with our final product. This was definitely my favorite speech in this class.
After watching back our final video I thought we did great. We cleaned up everything we needed to while incorporating the things we didn’t have. Although listening to myself on video was hard I think we did really well. Me Patrick and Becca all shared completely different views but found ways to tie them back to another. I also found my way to incorporate my major and my plans and to be involved in the conversation while being the host and running our “show”. M y partners Becca and Patrick I think did great as well. I learned a lot from both of them while making the video and learned a lot about their majors and their career choices for the future.
After watching speech 4 many times I think that Kasey and I did really well. We had really great content and also added some recent world news to our conversation as well since it is a big issue that we have going on right now with the mental health crisis. I also think we had good communication through it and were bouncing off of each others ideas during our speech. The organization was good since we were able to switch cohosts and also adding our commercial that was relevant too. I think we had a good amount of humor and seriousness as well which people enjoyed. I believe that the class really enjoyed watching our speech and also learned some new things. Kasey and I worked really well together and I think that since we are friends and also there was only 2 of us, that it turned out great. Somethings that can be improved were maybe eye contact, but I don’t think it was bad either. I also think that we were talking kind of quiet so maybe just talking louder could help us too. Overall I think we did really well and I am impressed with how it turned out.
Overall I think me and my group mates did a great job with the video. I really enjoyed making it because it was something a little different from the other speeches we have done, although it was definitely weird hearing my voice in front of the whole class. I think my whole group did a really good job staying communicated the whole time and I think that really helped us in the long run. Also, I think that our different perspectives really helped this video go somewhere because we all had so much to talk about. We had three different majors that all had completely different backgrounds and we could have talked for an hour if we really had the time but we had to crunch it down into a ten-minute video. If we could play around with the sound and make it sound better I think that could be fun if we had some better materials. We all put in our fair share and I would gladly do another project like this. I think during our video the audience was engaged with our video the whole time.
I think this speech went really well. I was really happy with how our video turned out and how everything came together. I think the best part of this speech was the group that we created. We all really worked well and hard together, making sure that everything was done 100% all the time and that showed in our speech, our chemistry on screen and in the dry runs, and in our video. What can be improved, for me personally, would be my confidence. Even though we were filming and recording in the confines of my dorm room I was still a bit nervous about what I was going to say and how I was going to say it. And during class on Tuesday, when we watched the final video, I was very nervous about others watching me speak on the big screen. But since the beginning of the semester I have seen my confidence in public speaking increase, and it has travelled across my other courses as well. But it is definitely still something I want and need to work on. My shape in this project was creating questions and answers for myself and for Khloe to ask during the talk show, as well as create question cards for our game show. The game show was a group task to create together so we all worked on that but creating my specific questions was my task. When it came to the creation of the video that was all me. I have had lots of experience editing and filming videos like this for other projects and for dance in my past so I was quite comfortable with that. But I did jump out of my comfort zone and use Cap Cut as my editing medium rather than iMovie, but I think that was the smartest choice that I could have made. I think the reaction of the audience was exactly what we wanted it to be, everyone appeared to be engaged and responded very well once it was finished. Overall I think that all of our efforts was really hard and was shown thoroughly through our presentation.
I think our speech 4 went pretty well overall. We decided to do a talk show about our majors and keep it sort of on a unscripted/improve basis to make it feel like an actual talk show and more natural. I think my group members did great, although I was not super happy with my performance for the final speech. After presenting twice before this, there is only so much improve and jokes I can rattle off and still have an entertaining speech so by the end of it, I was grasping at straws trying to make it entertaining for myself and the audience. I think my group dynamic was a strong part of our speech, I liked working with Kasey and Maddie and I think we all just flowed well together. One area I felt like I could have improved on is in scripting the talk show, I didn’t want it to come to that but in the end i think it could have produced a more polished product. I enjoyed editing the talk show too, it was fun to edit but also difficult to rewatch myself over video, I prefer to just do it once in person so that I don’t have to re-live the cringe over and over. Overall, I think my group and I did a good job and put in our all in this speech and I am satisfied with the outcome!
After delivering speech 4, I feel that overall, it went pretty well. Working with Hannah on this project made it more enjoyable and we were able to relate with each other, due to our military experience. At the beginning, we had a few bumps in the road and we didn’t have as much in-class time as other groups did. We were unable to present our pre-dry-dry run or our dry-dry run together, which gave us a challenge. But we found ways to overcome these things. We made shared google docs to write our ideas, drafts, and an outline. We also communicated through text, zoom, and found times to meet in person to make up for the missed in-class time as a team. One struggle we had was the length of our speech we had gone over the max time during the dry run. We got together and went over the questions we were planning to answer and decided we needed to cut or combine some of them and then had to shorten our answers. We wanted to add humor to our speech to make it more entertaining, some of that humor got to the audience and some did not. One thing that could have been better was the filming and editing, but we had to work with what we had to create the best talk show we could. Although, I did learn some new tricks when it comes to editing videos.
I really like how our speech came together. We looked casual when speaking to one another, it did not feel forced. i think everyone else really liked our speech as well. My group members did a great job by being easily reachable out side of class to meet and talk about what we wanted to do. Also Mackie doing a great job at cutting and adding our logo and intro/outro music. Taylor at getting the materials needed for our game segment to some together. I think I did a good job creating the logo, also being able to reach, and my performance in out talk show. We started with a shared google doc and just kept adding and creating he next script of that so we could all access it. We got together easily to film our talk show. Overall I am happy with how our talk show came together, our performances, and overall work ethic in this project.
After delivering speech four today in class, I feel that Keigan, Syd, and I did a great job. Our final vision of our project was executed and I feel that the whole class was able to see that as well. The interviews that we added supplemented our video perfectly, and it added the right amount of information we needed. I think it also made our final speech more engaging because different people were featured that our classmates had not seen before in our dry runs. Although it was really hard to listen to myself speak personally, I still was able to include all the content I needed to produce an engaging final project. Keigan, Syd, and I all worked so well together and it really showed through our chemistry in the video!
No one ever likes to watch or listen to themselves on a recording, so one can naturally assume that I didn’t love sitting in class today and hearing myself talk or watching myself speak. Aside from the internal self hate and embarrassment I gave myself, I actually believe that speech 4 was personally the best speech that I have produced. The team aspect of the speech was really enticing, and I got extremely lucky when it came to group selections. Mia and Keigan were amazing partners, we efficiently worked together while having fun like anyone would. I think the editing went well especially because we were a tad worried about that. Mia and I worked together to edit and fine the perfect music for the intro and outro. Keigan came up with great ideas for filming and created out news cast cups. I think the audience enjoyed our show and learned a lot, despite our presentation being a little goofy the content was still there. I think that we could of filmed better, by this I mean I had weird pauses and that was just a little funky. I also think we could added music to when it was dead silent. Other then that our presentation was amazing. Organization of the project was all laid out in a shared doc, we stayed within the time frame, and our final delivery really showed parts of our personalities.
The final product that our group came out with was good, not great, and definitely not terrible. We succeeded in terms of conveying information to the audience effectively, and ultimately coming up with an organized way to deliver our final speech. Though we used our outlines for the final speech, we were fully aware of our lines, what to say, and when to say it. From the first practice round to the final, a lot changed in terms of our scripts. We fine tuned what we were saying to include more necessary detail and we figured out how to go about saying things in the most efficient way to stay within the confines of time.
As a communications major, I have used a variety of media equipment in a number of different classes. I did not put in my full effort while using the equipment for this project, namely because it’s an introductory speech course and I did not think my full attention was warranted. The audio was off throughout the whole video in different ways. A shot of the projected screen had unwanted conversation in the background, the audio took the form of an echo during the video, and there are obviously more errors, but I will not get into those fully.
All in all, I am very glad to finally be done with this project and the class altogether. I am grateful for my groupmates’ efforts through the various projects and I am satisfied with my work output.
After finishing our final project for this class, I can say that I am extremely proud of our outcome. The content of the final speech flowed really well. We had nice transitions into each other’s parts and had nice editing as well. The audience seemed to like our project, which was good. We were nervous whether or not the last minute humor would play out, but it was relieving that it did. The only thing that could have been improved would probably be the audio quality, however I am not sure how we could have improved that without not using the space we chose. Speaking of the Hang, I am super happy that we chose it as our filming space. It gave our talk show a little bit of authenticity, as well as a huge shoutout to my roommates for being our live audience, which also added to the authenticity. I edited the final video, which did not take very long and looked great after it was finished. Overall, I think this final project went really well and I am super stoked with our final talk show.
Our group’s speech 4 definitely met the requirements of the final project and I am glad about how we all performed and worked together. It was overall not like the other speeches in terms of how some groups used humor to hold the audience’s attention, rather I felt as though we kept a more professional tone that still had some relaxed elements to it. Looking back at our work, I do wish we had more creativity in terms of how we presented our majors. Maybe if we could have acted as our older, professional selves or some other twist to the project. Or even if we tried to be a bit more creative with the setting we gave our speech in, but in the end I am still pleased with the outcome of our project. I felt comfortable while giving my speech, although watching a recorded presentation of yourself talking is surprisingly much more difficult than I had anticipated. . . I am also pleased with the effort I put into improving my speaking this semester. The nerves I had during my first speech is like a foreign feeling in comparison with my last speech.
After finishing our final speech I am proud and relieved. I believe what went well mostly was the flow of it, it was naturally and didn’t seem awkward it was like two real talk show hosts having a conversation and me and Rachael already knowing each other played a huge role of being not nervous or shakey. At times when I felt most nervous, Rachael would take over and put her thoughts into it so it seemed as if it was planned. One unique thing about our talk show was that one person wasn’t just asking the questions it went back and forth and after each point that was made no matter who was asking at first we always gave our opinion which kept the audience engaged and eager to hear more. Our overall editing I though was funny and also gripping, adding some up tempo music and a commercial break was a good idea to break up the video. For our overall setting of the talk show, we could of been in a better more fancy place instead of just being in a study room, maybe added some more props like microphones or had flowers and more props on the table to make it more realistic. Overall I loved doing this project and as it was some time to make I would do it again, it really made me learn something knew about my major and everyone else’s aswell.
After doing speech 4 looking back on it, it was super fun. What went well was the people I had to work with and the overall outcome of the speech. It went much better than I originally thought it would which I’m very happy about. We could definitely have improved how many times we practiced and looked over our parts. I noticed the audience didn’t find our paper “laugh and applause” so that wasn’t the greatest feeling. The editing was so perfect but we should have just added our own laughing through the editing instead of the paper. The project overall was so much fun I would highly recommend doing this again because of how fun it was. Wish all the speeches were like this because it just made putting the information out much more enjoyable to watch. I and my partners had a lot of fun and wouldn’t wish to have any other partners for this project.
After watching our final video in class, I am happy with our final product. It was definitely hard to watch due to the fact that I hated watching myself on a youtube video, but context wise I was happy with what we had. I think that we worked well together as a group and when the time came to get work done we were able to divide up our parts and get done what needed to get done. We all brought different things to the table and it was all used during the creation of our video. I think looking back we maybe could have made it a tiny bit more structured, however the sarcastic “go with the flow” vibe was what we were kind of looking for. I am definitely satisfied with our outcome and I was also impressed with the other groups’ projects as well. Everyones was very creative and they all came together well. This project was relatively fun to come up with and equally entertaining to watch back.
After watching our final speech I am super proud of the outcome. Our group worked very hard outside of class, conducting interviews, and finding times to film in our busy schedules and it came together so well. Mia, Sydney, and I worked very well together and made a piece we can be very proud of. The reaction of the crowd was great, and you can tell they not only enjoyed our perspectives but also the outside perspective we brought in through our interviews. Overall, looking back at the process, it took a lot of work to get to the final outcome, but it’s all a part of the journey of the entire process. It’s cool looking back to the first dry-dry run and now looking at our final project. There was major growth and many improvements we made along the way. Overall, super proud of our group for putting together a great film from start to finish.
After watching my final video for speech 4, I thought out our overall script was good. I do believe it was hard to listen to myself but that goes for everyone. No one loves listening and watching themselves in front of the class. I think we could have developed the speech bit more and added a little more. I do think we had a better reaction than expected. I do believe everyone in my group including me did a good job staying on their roles. I loved the group I worked with considering I picked my partners. We all worked well together and our type of humor was very good in the end.
