FINAL JOURNAL

FINAL JOURNAL

Due next class: Post a 100-200 word thank you note for someone or multiple members of the class.  It takes a lot of energy to do the work of this class and people should be recognized.

  1. Final Journal:
As the semester is coming to an end, I look back and think of all the work that I have done and all of the people I have met since August. In my public speaking class alone, I have met many different people, and we have all worked hard throughout the course of the semester. This hard work and collaboration does not go unrecognized, and I am very grateful for all the help that I have received during this course. The list of people and what they have done to make the class easier and more enjoyable encompasses everyone, but there is one specific moment that stands out. This moment that I feel are worth mentioning has to do with the whole process of completing speech four. I would like to thank Cassidy and Peta-Guye for doing a great job in our project, and I am thankful that I got to work with them. Projects can be hard sometimes because of people’s different working style, but we were able to successfully work on and complete our project without any issues. Both girls were very supportive and pulled their weight in the project. Plus they were always very kind and accommodating given that we all did not live on campus.

I would like to write a thank you to my class, as they helped me progress into becoming a better public speaker. I want to thank Cassidy and Zainab for all that they have done for me. We were able to do podcasts together and they gave me feedback on how to improve. I have had many conversations with them both within and outside of class, and they have been so supportive of me and encourage me to grow. Without them, I feel that I would not be the speaker I am today. I would also like to thank Hailey and Andrew. Although I do not speak with them often, they both were able to teach me important lessons of teamwork when it comes to speaking. They were in my speech 4 group and we were able to be very productive together, coming up with parts, a working outline and the whole video without any complications. I want to thank them for all they have done for me as they taught me how when it comes to speaking, you are not always on your own. You have people to back you up. In pharmacy, I am going to have to talk with colleagues and interns and from the teamwork I learned from them, I will be successful in doing so. Last, I want to thank professor Miller. He was able to teach many valuable skills when it comes to delivering a speech and I feel much more confident in my ability coming out of his class.

  3. I would like to say thank you to Zainab. I was someone who used to be nervous in front of a class when I had to speak because I always feared being judged by the people listening to me. It was kinda scary the first couple of speeches, but after each speech, I became more and more comfortable with the class. Zainab is one person in particular that has made me feel comfortable with the class. Whenever I am talking, in my dry runs or actual speech, if I made eye contact with her, she gave me a smile. I appreciated this so much because it showed she was actually engaged in what I was talking about and that I wasn’t talking to a bunch of zombies. Her smile gave me more confidence when I was speaking and I’m thankful to have had her in class to spread happiness and confidence.

  4. I want to say a big thank you to my entire public speaking class. Throughout this entire semester the whole class as always been very supportive. I was never nervous for the fact that the class would make fun of me if I made a mistake and always felt very supported throughout the entire speech making process. The class always had very nice, and constructive feedback for me after I gave a speech to help me improve for my next one. Overall I really enjoyed public speaking and I think a good portion of that is because of how great my classmates were. So a big thank you goes to everyone in the monday/wednesday 2:00-3:20 SPC100 class for making this course be much better than I thought it was going to be.

  5. My thank you letter: Thank you Zainab. Thank you for all the encouraging words in and outside of this class. I was very glad to have you in my speech 4 group, you were very organized and very hard worker. I remember when I let you use my pen. You talked about how great of a pen it was, I know it was something small to you but I knew I had to give you one. It was amazing to me to see how impressed you were by the simple things in life, I knew I needed to be more like you. To appreciate what we have in life. I remember when it was my birthday, you brought me in cupcakes and brownies, that was incredibly sweet. We only have classes together and you went above and beyond being classmates. You reminded me to be a kind and genuine person and to do things to make other people happy. I know this is kind of out of the prompt, but I knew when I had to write a thank you note to someone in the class I had to write mine to you. So, thank you for going above and beyond just being a classmate, and being a friend to me.

  6. I would like to say thank you to everybody in the class. Delivering those speeches was difficult but we did it. I never thought I would have to stand in front of an audience so much in my life but I am grateful for it all. This class taught us a lot of valuable life lessons – how to manage stressful situations, how to calm your nerves, how to work under pressure and anxiety, the whole works, and I am forever thankful! I would like to give a special thank you to Peta-Gaye for working with me on the podcasts, we killed them! I would also like to give a special thank you to the members of In Our Element, Hailey and Kenzie, we worked really hard on that project and our effort shows! Also, of course, I would like to give the most special thank you to our professor, Jesse, who helped guide us through a difficult course and made it fun as well as interesting along the way! Good luck to you all, go get those PharmD’s!

  7. Throughout the whole semester I have sat next to Zaiab. I would like to thank her because despite the fact that we are friends, she always gives me honest feedback about my speeches. Before delivering most speeches I always ask her if everything sounds okay or makes sense in the order that I have it in. The feedback she has given me before and after delivering my speeches has helped me tremendously because I know that everything she is saying is constructive and I know that she is being truthful. I would also like to thank both Stephanie and Casey for their help with the group project. It’s very easy in a group to have one or two people doing the work but our group meshed very well and they also encouraged my thinking and ideas throughout the project.
